San Diego Square
HDP acquired San Diego Square to preserve the 156-unit, downtown senior housing development as affordable housing for 55 years. HDP also is performing the first major renovation of San Diego Square since it was built in 1980 along Broadway, between Ninth and 10th avenues in Downtown San Diego. San Diego Square currently provides 154 affordable apartments for seniors and two manager’s units, near bus and trolley lines. SDHC authorized the issuance of a multifamily housing revenue note of up to $17,825,000, administered by the state, for the acquisition and rehabilitation of San Diego Square. The San Diego City Council, sitting as the Housing Authority of the City of San Diego, approved the note on October 28, 2014.
San Diego Square will be restricted to seniors (age 62+) with incomes at or below 50 percent of AMI.
